“Show Pony” is the new autobiographical piece by Berlin-based company still hungry, in collaboration with performance artist Bryony Kimmings. Part circus show, part training session, part open-heart surgery, “Show Pony” is a brutally honest and full hearted look at life onstage and the gut wrenching moment when that stage no longer wants you. Packed full of love, laughter and lunacy, “Show Pony” is another joyful scream into the face of the patriarchy that challenges us to question our societal prejudices towards age and femininity, onstage and off. The performance intertwines a compelling narrative with a multitude of circus disciplines, evolving into a deep, autobiographical exploration of childhood conditioning, societal aging, and the sustaining power of friendship. still hungry premiered their acclaimed previous creation “Raven” in 2018 at Berlin Circus Festival, collected international recognition and prices and is now back with their new creation, continuing to be a bold voice of German contemporary circus – we can’t wait for their return! |
