Work-in-Progress

This evening, artists show parts of their work, experimenting and testing new ideas! After each presentation, the artists have ten minutes on stage to ask their questions - to you!

With this format, we want to support artists in their creation process and offer them the opportunity for valuable exchange and feedback, as well as a stage for the presentation of their work before the premiere.

This year the selection for the work-in-progress took place within the new cooperation project CIRCUS RE:SEARCHED (more info), which aims to promote and connect artists in the field of contemporary circus.

It accompanies selected circus artists of German-speaking countries (DE, AT, CH) in their research and creative processes, thus enabling a more in-depth analysis of artistic working methods.

The projects:

"When we started wanting"
Hyldra Collective - Naomi Bratthammer & Emma Laule

Only when we started wanting, we realized how many things we are doing just because that's how it it is supposed to be done ...

"When we started wanting" is about the search for connection with all parts of us, also with those who are outside the social expectations, with the instinctive, the savages in us.

Both artists graduated with the Bachelor of Circus Arts as solo artists on the vertical rope and have been working since autumn 2018 together as "Hyldra Collective".  Together, they are looking for new interpretations of the medium vertical rope.

"CYCLE"
David Eisele

Is there actually ever anything of existence standing still? Many breaths are taken in a day, a few days form a week and when the amount of weeks we live is counted, how is it that we circulate through life only once? It´s just a matter of looking at magnitudes to discover how everything evolves in repetitive circulation just as atoms, planets and solar systems spiral and turn through cycles.

The solo show cycle turns around a research of the circulating objects Cyr Wheel and Diabolo, bound together with the support of the Loop-station. An exploration of the contrast between the cyr wheel's force and the diabolo's fragility.

The German solo artist David Eisele graduated in 2018 from CODARTS Circus arts. He won the BNG Circus Prize 2018 with his act "Senses" and started to create "CYCLE" with the support of circunstruction.
