With Toupie, Cie La Boule shares an excerpt from their new creation: a playful yet precise physical research into spinning, swaying and staying upright. At its centre lies the tension between control and surrender, between speed, slowness and the threat of falling. Like a spinning top stubbornly refusing to tip over, the piece moves through repetitions, small shifts and surprising turns. With a knowing wink, an innovative movement language and a wonderfully idiosyncratic aesthetic, Toupie creates a universe of kitsch, virtuosity and absurd poetry. |

The Berlin Circus Festival is a co-producer of the production "Toupie". Liam and Kim will receive a 9-day residency on the festival grounds, courtesy of the Fonds Transfabrik bilateral fund, and will subsequently present a work-in-progress showcasing the creative process.

Between theatre and circus, the wordless piece approaches the subject of depression through the body. "Shrouded" uses powerful trio acrobatics to explore the force of human emotions and translates the complexity of inner states into movement. Inner fragmentation stands alongside moments of harmony and lightness. Three artists circle one another, move as a protective community or a threatening unit, fly, fall, carry each other and whirl through the air. The piece opens a physical space of experience around being human, vulnerability, inner strength and the ability to keep going. The Berlin Circus Festival is a co-producer of the production Shrouded. Courtesy of the TADA tickets of 2025, we were able to provide a 10-day residency at the Pfefferberg Theater together with you, the audience. Triority will present the work-in-progress this evening.

Together, Toupie and Shrouded form an evening full of contrasts and resonances: playful and fragile, absurd and moving, searching and determined. A glimpse into two creations that are still growing — and precisely because of that, unfold their own particular force.
