Welcome to [9]. [9] is the space "in-between", a timeless space of transformation. Within this transitional realm, the space , an object, sound and movement interact with each other and create a gravitational pull that will release the audience into a new reality. Masterfully Myrto Petrochilou breathes life into the material and creates hypnotic choreographies of timeless transformations, treating each end as a beginning and each beginning as the signalling of an end. In [9], Myrto creates a poetic imagery and an intriguing research about our perception of forms, inviting the audience to become co-creators that imagine a renewed reality as transformations occur. Myrto Petrochilou is a multidisciplinary artist who graduated the National Centre for Circus Arts, London, the Professional Dance school of Rallou Manou, Athens and the City University of London. Her artistic research focuses on the meeting points between circus and dance, and the combination of aerial and ground movement, through the paths of improvisation. "[9]" is shortlisted company of circusnext 2020-21. circusnext is the European platform, which is dedicated to the promotion of artists in the field of contemporary circus. Since 2019 the Berlin Circus Festival is platform member and supports yearly two selected projects. The WIP evening is supported by the "circusnext platform", which is co-financed by the Creative Europe Programme of the EU. |
