the meet-the-artist podcast With Meet-the-artist we want to invite you to take a plunge down the rabbit hole into the strange, fascinating and magical world of circus. In this podcast we will invite artists to share with us their stories, their thoughts and dreams and also some insights about their everyday lives. In this intimate and protected setting, they can present their work, explain their background and thoughts or even try a new approach to conveying their artistic ideas. The podcast will be almost exclusively be held in English as we will mostly have international guests. If any terms are unclear or unknown or you have other general questions, you can comment under the podcast on our website and we will try to answer in the following episode. your hosts
Lea Sander is a singer (mezzo-soprano), singing teacher and music educator. She teaches singing, piano and children's singing groups in her own studio. She also offers monthly singing workshops there. She has regular gigs all over Germany in the fields of classical music, pop and jazz.
She studied music and educational sciences in Wuppertal and is currently doing her Master's degree in music education at the Cologne University of Music and Dance. Prior to her studies she studied in the USA at the Young American College of the performing Arts. In 2017 she spent a total of four months in Malaysia and conceived, directed and implemented a community music project with stateless children and young people. Josa Kölbel is CEO and artistic director of the Berlin Circus Festival. He graduated as circus artist from the national circus centre of France in 2012 and has toured with several performances throughout Europe. In 2017 he finally shifted his focus into organisation after having realised already two editions of the Berlin Circus Festival. In 2017 he started curating the circus program at the renowned House of Berliner Festspiele, where he, together with Johannes Hilliger, programmed three performances and developped, organised and realised the interdisciplinary research festival "Originale". He was educated at the Fontys Academy for Circus and Performance Art (ACaPA) in Tilburg and at the Centre national des arts du cirque (Cnac) in Châlons-en-Champagne. Until 2016, he was featured in numerous productions as a professional circus artist, actor, dancer and performer. |
