They run and juggle, sprint and catch, trapped in endless movement. Two treadmills keep the performers in constant motion, while multi-instrumentalist Moisés Mas García drives them through a series of experiments and games, setting in motion — and keeping alive — a tense, grotesquely comic play between the three protagonists. "Runners" is a tour-de-force of precision, complicity, exhaustion and play for the two performers. They run faster and faster, throw and catch, adapt and resist, while rhythm and sound push them forward. "Runners" is a highly entertaining performance about movement, juggling and rhythm and equally a sharper metaphor for a society constantly in motion, working hard and yet somehow staying in place. It invites the audience to find their own stories and will leave you breathless, laughing and inspired. Hippana.Maleta brings together German circus artist Jonas Schiffauer and Irish circus artist Alex Allison. Since 2018, they have shared a vision of circus, poetry and performance, developing the idea that juggling is a language. After "Tunnel", "Runners" is their second creation together, made in close collaboration with musician Moisés Mas García. |
