“Home” tells the story of a person leaving his life behind and pursuing a dream, that in the end brings him back to the beginning. A story about longing and the endless search for something, which might never be found: a journey, where the simple is left behind in order to reach a greater meaning. Akira Yoshida's movements testify to a powerful and virtuoso sensibility, carried by a meaningful physical language between impetuous gesture and fragility. "Home" embodies the perfect symbiosis of enchanting dance and extraordinary physicality, which has convinced us to present the second dance performance at the festival. „[Home unites] the physical tension of hip-hop, with its hard and committed expressions; the sensitive, almost tender accent of modern Japanese art; and the stable, almost routine lines of the contemporary dance.“ Polyhedral identity For Akira Yoshida, breakdancing was initially just a hobby. Later he became professional and won over 60 awards. At the age of 23 he also began to engage in contemporary dance and the performing arts and has since been on tour. |
