As Berlin Circus Festival, we are committed to creating sustainable conditions for contemporary circus artists. We provide residencies as part of cooperation projects and offer creative and production-relevant support for individual artists and companies.
Our mission is to promote the visibility and quality of contemporary circus in Germany and Europe. With residencies, a pitching session, an incubator, workshops and work-in-progress showings, we want to contribute to the infrastructure of contemporary circus in Germany and offer artists valuable opportunities.

We invite artists to present their artworks or create site-specific works at the international Berlin Circus Festival at Tempelhofer Feld. We are looking for works of all genres, such as sculpture, performance (no circus acts), painting, video or photography, that are suitable for weatherproof, temporary outdoor presentation on the festival site or in a container. This includes existing works as well as site-specific works that can be shown or created. The festival offers a platform for encounters between contemporary circus and visual arts. In an open-air exhibition, you will have the opportunity and support to present your artistic work to over 14,000 visitors in an extraordinary setting between the circus tent and the grandstand. Selected artists and companies present and pitch their work to a professional audience of organisers, festival directors and networks. The pitching session takes place on 8.8.2026 from 1.00 – 3.00pm

For the open stage we are looking for female and non-binary artists with thrilling, exciting, surprising or innovative acts! The Open Stage takes place on 10.8.2025 at 8.00pm

7 day residency – apply now with your creation!
Supported by the Berlin Circus Festival's audience through the TADA Ticket and Creative Europe, we are offering a residency for companies and individual artists who live and work in Berlin. You will be provided with a suitable rehearsal space for at least 7 days, and the Berlin Circus Festival will support your residency with €1,000. At the end of the residency a WIP showing will take place in a safe setting. |

First open call for productions from Germany!
We are taking stock for the 2026 program and looking for productions from Germany. The questionnaire serves as an overview of all current projects and as an application for the 2026 program. Are you or your company based in (or also in) Germany? Do you identify with the contemporary circus genre? Have you celebrated your premiere or are you working on a piece? Then please send us your material by November 15, 2025. |
FESTIVAL PROGRAM
The festival program is carefully curated and unites the values and mission of the festival. If you would like to show your short piece or full-length creation as part of the festival programme, please send an email to josa[at]berlin-circus-festival.de with all relevant information about the piece and a video link. *Spam, mass mails and mails regarding individual acts will not be answered due to time and capacity constraints
The festival program is usually finalised by January the same year. Please send your information in early autumn.
CREATION SUPPORT
The festival is part of the European creative platform circusnext and alliance partner of the German creative platform Zirkus On. We are happy to support you in the application process within the scope of our capacities. The open calls for both projects will be published in January at the latest.
