Two figures constantly remodel a space evocative of an artificial, manufactured landscape. Contemplative and chaotic by turns, powered by an intriguing electronic soundscape, the piece guides us through a fragile world which shifts between synchronicity and syncopation, harmony and dissonance. The duo's movements testify a powerful and virtuoso sensitivity, carried by a meaningful physical language between intimacy and tension. The innovative acrobatic vocabulary grew out of the artist’s deep immersion in combat sports, gravitating towards evolving forms which demonstrate a fluid and versatile relationship in constant evolution. The Chita Project embodies the perfect symbiosis of breathtaking partner acrobatics, inspired by the enchanting aesthetics of martial arts and a delicate sense of space and sound design. Their extraordinary physicality and creativity convinced us to follow the Canadian duo for three years and to invite them for their world premiere in the Berlin Circus Festival. Anna Kichtchenko, graduated from the National Circus School of Montreal, is trained as a contortionist and Pablo Pramparo, graduated from La Arena Circus School in Buenos Aires, as a juggler. In their shared practice, they aim to expand acrobatic virtuosity by seeking new physical approaches, focusing on the sensitive potentials of movement which emerge at the intersection of their circus disciplines. Since 2014, they have shared the stage for over 700 shows in 17 countries, this includes international companies and four productions with the Quebecois company, Les 7 Doigts de la Main. “The Thing-in-Itself” is their first original creation and we are proud to welcome them at Berlin Circus Festival. |
